ONE COMMUNITY CHANGED

During the ALPHA Conference in Houston last year, several Alpha  leaders from the Humble Texas area met and discussed the idea of launching a Community Christian Outreach Program. The centerpiece for this jointly sponsored outreach program would be the Alpha course. The Mission was to present a non-denominational, basic Christianity course, with the goal being the evangelization and conversion of "seekers" in the community, regardless of the Church with whom they ultimately chose to affiliate.

Following several months of prayer and planning, the Alpha Course became a reality. On the evening of February 5, 2007 beginning with an Introductory Coffee, Video and Registration the course began. It concluded on May 7th. There were more than fifty attendees and a significant number were without a church home. God has blessed this course in a very special way with wonderful personal spirituality outcomes.

Church Sponsors were: Atascocita United Methodist Church; FaithQuest United Methodist, Summerwood; Kingwood United Methodist, St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Humble; Lamb of God Lutheran Church, Humble and First Presbyterian Church, Kingwood. Special thanks to Pastor Mark Brunette and Lamb of God Lutheran for hosting the evening sessions and to Kingwood UMC for providing the Alpha manuals free of charge. In addition, they hosted  the Saturday Retreat.
